Slow Food in Berwick-upon-Tweed

Berwick-upon-Tweed has a proud history relating to food and drink, from the fishing of salmon on the River Tweed to the herring industry, the malting of barley, Jus Rol pastry or the infamous Berwick Cockles sweets.

Berwick Slow Food has produced two self-guided walking trails that look at two of the major food traditions of Berwick's past: fish and barley. You can download the leaflets below, or pick up a printed copy from a number of places in town, including Tourist Information, Skelly's the Butchers and the Library.

Today, Berwick-upon-Tweed has many artisan food and drink producers who have set-up shop in the town and the surrounding area. You can meet many of these businesses at our annual Berwick Food and Beer Festival.
